Picture Frame and Spray Bottle

Hi again every one! For this post, I attempted to do my first photo shoot using a picture frame that I sprayed with water to create a rain effect. This was a pretty tricky shoot for me being that I have never done this before, and I attempted to do this using only artificial light since day light savings has taken precious natural sun light time away from us. This trick also requires some patience at first because your camera may not focus on the raindrops/model like you'd like it to right away OR your camera might be difficult like mine and just not let you take a picture at all.

Anyway, getting to the tips portion instead of my ranting....

I purchased a 12x 16 inch picture frame from Michael's art store and got a spray bottle from my local dollar store. Next, I asked my beautiful friend Riley to model for me, and after a few attempts to fit a shoot into our schedules, we met at a time where there was no natural light so I had to set up the room with the best light I could get. For this shoot, I used my 35mm 1.8 lens to really keep the focus on the raindrops and Riley's face without getting too wide of a shot. I had Riley stand in front of my plain white brick wall (which, if I could do again, I would move her farther from the wall to create more blur in the background) and we got to shooting! Like I said earlier, this process does require some patience because of how your camera will want to focus, but play around with how it focuses on the drops and your model's face because personally, I think when the camera focuses on the water it looks cooler than a normal portrait. Also, be willing to move around the frame to find cool places where the drops lay on your model's face or there's a cool glare because sometimes those combinations will look really amazing and other times it'll look like your model has barnacles on their face so play around and be willing to move around to get different angles!

Hopefully there will be a part 2 to this particular trick because I'd love to do it again to improve on my first time shooting this trick!
